My name is Stewart Hubber, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Alpha Clean Energy and I’ve been in the Renewable Energy arena for over 40 years during which time I’ve introduced many new technologies, including several Energy Storage Systems (ESS) having worked for both private and ASX listed Companies.

However, until I encountered Zenaji’s LTO ESS, I’ve never entertained installing any of these technologies on my personal properties as their reliability and more importantly, ROI made no commercial sense.  Energy storage is an investment where lifespan, safety, easy-of-use and performance are key components that also need to be considered.

Consequently, with Zenji’s Aeon ESS meeting all the above, I installed a system on our property north of Brisbane.  This system runs our property, shed, pumps, etc and I am extremely pleased with the performance.  Our ROI or return on investment will be in the order of 4.25 years, something no other technology can supply.

I am more than happy to whole-heartedly endorse Zenaji’s LTO Battery technology.

Whilst the main benefits of the Aeon batteries are buried in a lot of other words, a careful reader would figure out that in addition to the benefits you advertise the Aeon battery has a really significant attribute that is important to me……it has a really WIDE ‘throat’!

If the system is trying to survive on a cloudy day in Winter but the sun breaks through even for half an hour the ability to stuff great amounts of power into the batteries in that short time is crucial.

Compared to Tesla Wall and RedFlow batteries I can also pull more power out of the Aeon FASTER than their systems, making my system extremely versatile.

Hence my theory about lots and lots of high efficiency batteries matched with a wide ‘pipe’ into, as well as out of, the Aeon batteries.

Having run the system for just over one year I am impressed with how it managed, even through the Winter solstice.

The addition of 3 more Aeon batteries has just increased my comfort zone and I am confident that should the energy distributers make my life too difficult (and implement their plan to make us pay them when we give them our surplus energy) then I will open the breaker one last time and disconnect myself from the Grid and invite them to remove the connection permanently.

I feel that Zenaji Aeon Lithium Titanate Batteries are market leading technology that will deliver excellent return for investment, plus one of the safest lithium technologies available on the market today.

So much so, I have installed this product at my farm to power the entire house.

The installers were excited about the ease of installation with these batteries.

The backup service has been great & the battery bank is performing well.

I would recommend Zenaji Aeon batteries to anyone that is looking for a long-term power solution that will deliver reliable power for many years to come.

As you are aware we are totally Off the Grid living in Queensland in a new modern home with all electrical appliances know to women.

Saying that, our first choice in batteries for the system was NiFe, 40 of them rated at 300Ah which was designed to take care of our needs.

Unfortunately, the Inverter we have did not support the higher Voltage required for the additional batteries we required.

The system was constantly Blacking Out with the generator on 3 – 4 times a day.

I was told of Zenaji Batteries, which I was wary of, being a Lithium based battery. Further investigation put me at ease after I found out the Lithium Titanate (LTO) Chemistry product you sell is non-explosive which was the deciding factor for us.

After a year now of absolutely trouble-free performance, no Blackouts, and in the midst of winter with full cloud coverage we have had to use the generator once a day under those weather conditions and for only 1 hour to get us up to full capacity of 55.5 VDC.

But there’s more to share with you now upon finding out this morning we were fully charged, from 50% discharge to fully charged by 8:30AM. (See screenshot attached) That’s our record I wanted to share. You have supplied us with 8 AEON Batteries that are very fast to charge and slow to discharge.

Disclaimer: I consult for both Surveillance and Solar systems and I am impressed with Zenaji and your team of helpful people.

We had been considering a home solar system for quite some time, but our site had its challenges. We had shading issues, frequent patchy cloud resulting in sun bursts, used most of our power at night, required two phase support and whole house backup. Rather than make do we waited for the right products to be released on the market. Unfortunately, we had to wait years for the right products.

Our main requirements for the system consisted of:

  • No break in switchover to backup
  • Handle variable shading across panel arrays
  • Rapid charge capability (< 2 hrs from flat)
  • Single battery supporting the two power phases
  • Managed AC coupling of solar PV inverter to battery inverter

In addition to our system requirements we also had specific requirements for our home energy storage system as follows:

  • High surge capacity, high roundtrip efficiency and long life over a wide ambient temperature range
  • 100% discharge without loss of cycles
  • Scalable and compact
  • Compatible with Selectronic SP PRO inverters
  • Cost effective – it had to be affordable and offer value for money

Obviously, the battery of any energy storage capable solar PV system is critical, and we looked at many systems! Even in 2019, no battery that was commercially available in Australia for domestic installations ticked all our requirements. This includes the big name manufactures that provide products with significant market acceptance. Now given our shortened charge period, Lithium batteries seemed the only viable option, however, most Lithium batteries on the market are using the LiFePO4, NMC chemistries or variations of some kind and these chemistries struggled to meet our requirements. Furthermore, after reading specification and warranty documents for several battery products it was clear to us that these products were simply not suitable (indeed capable) for our requirements long term.

Fortunately, late in 2019 a new battery came on the market that ticked most of our requirements. It was the Aeon battery from Zenaji and it used a Lithium chemistry that we were particularly interested in – Lithium Titanate Oxide. The LTO cells are noted for there extreme charge and discharge ratios as well as extremely high cycle life – look at the A48-40-02 specifications on the Zenaji web site for the full story.

Flexibility of the Aeon battery is one of its standout features. The Aeon battery allowed a two-stage approach to our system. As we have a two-phase grid connection, we required one phase per stage of the installation. Our Aeon battery array (7 Aeon batteries providing 13.4 kWh) effortlessly supports both phases with sustained charging of 11 kW and discharging of 14 kW (30 mins) or even 24 kW (30s). Those limits are not due to the battery they are the limits of the battery inverters! A couple of big named batteries will impose a 5 kW limit on both charging and discharging which was a deal breaker for us. In addition, with sufficient solar irradiation, the Aeon battery allowed us to realise our goal of a full charge from near flat in less than two hours.

Of course, no battery is perfect, and the Aeon battery does not have the high energy density of named brands using other Lithium chemistries but for us it was not really an issue. Furthermore, given the useable (warrantied) power per cycle, the Aeon compares well with many batteries when battery space to useable capacity ratio is considered.

We have only had the system fully installed for just under 6 months and the battery has had 2 MWh DC in and about 2 MWh DC out which is an amazingly high efficiency. Note, the actual system efficiency is lower due to the power draw of the inverters and AC-DC-AC conversion losses.
It can feel like a gamble with a new product but that certainly has not been our experience with both the Aeon battery and service from Zenaji. We rate them very highly!

I have been involved with solar power and batteries for over a decade, and I have designed and helped install many hundreds of solar and battery systems across the greater Melbourne region. As such, I have a broad range of experience with numerous battery brands and battery chemistries.

I recently moved in to my custom designed home in Pakenham (June 2021), and wanted to install a solar and battery system that would be nothing less than a solar industry benchmark for years to come, superior in design, performance, quality, robustness, and even aesthetics.

I am fortunate to have the pick of the crop when it comes to choosing the best solar panels, inverters and batteries, and having a decade of experience, and plenty of real-world data from hundreds of installations, it isn’t difficult to identify the stand out performers.

With all of this in mind, there was only one choice for me when it came to the batteries I would install in my own home. The Zenaji Aeon Battery!

The Zenaji Aeon battery considerably exceeds every other battery currently available on the market for performance, reliability and longevity. Beyond their unmatched peak charge/discharge power, and their superior safety, it is the longevity of these batteries that is the biggest attraction.

Because of their 20 year / 22,000 cycle warranty, with a cell chemistry known to have been tested out to well over 50,000 cycles without significant degradation, Zenaji Aeon batteries actually make the most sense over the long term, and are arguably the most cost-effective battery when viewed over the typical 30+ year lifespan of solar panels, since they will not require periodical replacement over that time frame, as is the case with every other battery.

I continue to recommend Zenaji Aeon batteries to all my clients seeking a battery solution. It is the battery of choice for any quality focused, experienced solar professional, and I look forward to helping many more home owners and businesses around Melbourne become self-reliant with the ultimate battery solution on the market today.

– Daniel Huppert, Total Solar Solutions

I can say I bought Zenaji Batteries (assembled in Melbourne from imported Lithium Titanate batterirs). More expensive, but worth it for the 20,000 cycles + lifetime. WE discharge down to abt 10% every night, & the only failure has been a failed inverter (replaced under warranty, not zenaji).

Zenaji actually replaced my first 4 batteries by the later model under warranty. I upgraded to 6 batteries then. This is just under 12Kw, which is about our use 5pm to 8pm, My EV charger bypasses the battery (& backup system).

I feel Zenaji is a viable option. Personally, I would not fit Lithium Ion Batteries to a house. Particularly in a bushfire zone! Lithium Titanate is a much more stable technology & chemistry.
